Powertech Transformers, a subsidiary of Powertech and the JSE listed Altron Group, has appointed Bernard Meyer as \u00a0its new CEO with effect from 1 August 2012.<\/p>\n
Meyer succeeds Leon Viljoen, who was promoted to COO for Powertech.<\/p>\n
Meyer Holds both a M.Sc. and B.Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch. During his career he spent twenty years with Eskom, covering all facets of the utility\u2019s Distribution business, ranging from Network Asset creation, Electricity Delivery to Field Services and Customer Services Departments.<\/p>\n
Bernard joined Powertech Transformers in 2007 as engineering manager and was promoted to chief operating officer for Powertech Transformers\u2019 Power Division in 2009.<\/p>\n

Powertech Transformer\u2019s main business includes the design, manufacturing, installation of power and distribution transformers within the South African and African markets.<\/p>\n
Powertech has an annual turnover of over R 7 billion and employs some 4,500 people in over 10 countries in Africa, Europe and Asia.<\/p>\n
Its products such as cables, transformers, batteries and electrical accessories, and services such as engineering and project management are offered to the power utilities, mines, large industries, transport, telecommunications as well as building and construction industry customers.<\/p>\n
