{"id":199924,"date":"2017-09-20T15:51:19","date_gmt":"2017-09-20T13:51:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=199924"},"modified":"2017-09-20T15:51:19","modified_gmt":"2017-09-20T13:51:19","slug":"naspers-targets-autotrader-acquisition-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/199924\/naspers-targets-autotrader-acquisition-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Naspers targets AutoTrader acquisition: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naspers is seeking Competition Commission approval to buy AutoTrader, according to a report by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fin24.com\/Tech\/Companies\/naspers-is-seeking-competition-approval-to-buy-autotrader-20170920\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Fin24<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Naspers has filed an application with the Commission to approve the acquisition, with \u201cclassifieds a core segment for Naspers and auto verticals part of its strategy\u201d,\u00a0Naspers investment relations officer Meloy Horn told Fin24.<\/p>\n<p>AutoTrader turned 25 this year, and recently <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/motoring\/207814-autotrader-shutting-down-magazine.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>ended the publication<\/strong><\/a> of its\u00a0print magazine.<\/p>\n<p>Its website was started in 1998, and is among one of the most visited sites in South Africa today.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was in 2008 that we realised our magazine had a shelf life.
