First National Bank (FNB) says its banking application has reached a quarter of a million active customers, with monthly\u00a0FNB App\u00a0activation’s\u00a0reaching 40,000.<\/p>\n

Michael Jordaan<\/a>, who\u00a0serves as CEO of FNB, announced the figures via his\u00a0Twitter<\/a>\u00a0account on Wednesday (15 August).<\/p>\n

Last month, the group\u00a0reported that it now had 220,000 active users on its banking app and around R5 billion had been transacted through the App at that time.<\/p>\n

FNB has now hit 250,000 active users, according to Jordaan.<\/p>\n

FNB has also recently opened three dotFNB branches, with plans to roll out more branches in other urban centres. FNB has also recently launched Facebook banking.<\/p>\n

Rival bank, Nedbank announced the launch of its digital banking app in-house in June (although it started in March), giving staff beta access to the App Suite ahead of the planned public release.<\/p>\n

On 23 July, the group shared its app journey with a \u00a0select audience, although it stopped short of officially announcing the App Suite open to the public.\u00a0It was originally scheduled for launch in May.<\/p>\n

At the end of June,\u00a0Standard Bank<\/a>\u00a0also launched its mobile banking app for\u00a0Android<\/a>,BlackBerry<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0iOS<\/a>, taking its spot as the third bank to launch a mobile offering for customers.<\/p>\n

The app, called \u201cStandard Bank Mobile Banking\u201d, allows users to access a number of the bank\u2019s services, even if you are not an account holder. Users will only be allowed to access accounts from linked devices.<\/p>\n
