{"id":203204,"date":"2017-10-05T14:10:46","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T12:10:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=203204"},"modified":"2017-10-05T14:19:06","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T12:19:06","slug":"bmw-south-africa-ordered-to-repay-customers-for-on-the-road-fee","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/203204\/bmw-south-africa-ordered-to-repay-customers-for-on-the-road-fee\/","title":{"rendered":"BMW South Africa ordered to repay customers for &#8220;on-the-road&#8221; fee"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Credit Regulator (NCR) has issued a compliance notice to BMW Financial Services for charging consumers an &#8220;on-the-road fee&#8221; on credit agreements.<\/p>\n<p>The regulator said it was not aware what the fee was for as BMW did not explain when it enquired.<\/p>\n<p>The charges ranged from R3\u201a000 to R6\u201a000, reports <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sowetanlive.co.za\/news\/2017\/10\/05\/bmw-must-refund-its-clients-for-charging-an-on-the-road-fee-ncr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TimesLive<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The fee is not permitted to be charged on credit agreements by the National Credit Act, said the NCR in a statement on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Compliance Notice instructs BMW Financial Services to refund consumers and submit an audit report to the NCR.
