{"id":203874,"date":"2017-10-10T07:42:20","date_gmt":"2017-10-10T05:42:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=203874"},"modified":"2017-10-10T07:42:20","modified_gmt":"2017-10-10T05:42:20","slug":"hawks-begin-work-on-gupta-emails-confirm-that-some-are-genuine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/203874\/hawks-begin-work-on-gupta-emails-confirm-that-some-are-genuine\/","title":{"rendered":"Hawks begin work on Gupta emails &#8211; confirm that some are genuine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Hawks have confirmed that they have begun investigating the leaked Gupta emails.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.enca.com\/south-africa\/hawks-confirm-gupta-emails-probe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eNCA<\/a><\/strong>, Hawks head, Yolisa Matakata said that the information in the emails leaves the unit with no choice but to investigate.<\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0Matakata said that the investigators only had access to a few of the emails &#8211; and not the hundreds of thousands available to the media houses.<\/p>\n<p>This means that\u00a0the Hawks have been probing charges linked to specific media reports, which are linked to some of the emails.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith us getting that kind of information, we have to work with it.
