{"id":206190,"date":"2017-10-19T09:47:04","date_gmt":"2017-10-19T07:47:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=206190"},"modified":"2017-10-19T09:47:04","modified_gmt":"2017-10-19T07:47:04","slug":"myeni-officially-out-new-saa-board-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/206190\/myeni-officially-out-new-saa-board-announced\/","title":{"rendered":"Myeni officially out &#8211; new SAA board announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba has formally <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fin24.com\/Companies\/Industrial\/its-official-myeni-out-in-saa-board-reshuffle-20171019\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">confirmed <\/a><\/strong>the new board of South African Airways.<\/p>\n<p>In an announcement released to media on Thursday Gigaba confirmed the axing of\u00a0Dudu Myeni as chairperson, and stated that her replacement would be prominent\u00a0businessperson Johannes Bhekumuzi Magawaza.<\/p>\n<p>Magwaza is a veteran corporate executive and a respected director of several national and international companies.<\/p>\n<p>He served as Personnel Director of Hulett Aluminium from 1992 to 2003 and has subsequently served as a non-executive director on a number of boards including the Nedbank group, Mutual &amp; Federal and the\u00a0Development Bank of Southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p>Nolitha Fakude, currently on the board of Anglo American has been appointed the deputy chairperson and non-executive director, replacing outgoing deputy Tryphosa Romano.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of non-executive\u00a0directors will remain on the board but Gigaba stated that a number of additional persons have been added, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Geoff Rothschild \u2013 former JSE chairperson;<\/li>\n<li>Ahmed Bassa \u2013 an aviation industry professional;<\/li>\n<li>Tinyiko Mhlari \u2013 an accountant and Armscor board member;<\/li>\n<li>Martin Kingston \u2013 the chief executive in South Africa for financial advisory firm Rothschilds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cThe new Board brings talent, expertise and energy to the airline, and they are all highly regarded individuals with a vast and in-depth knowledge of business in both the private and public sectors,\u201d Gigaba said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the heart of these appointments, is a commitment from the South African Government to strengthen the airline, and create conditions to see the transformation of all our state-owned companies&#8221;.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Read:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/201836\/government-approves-another-r3-billion-saa-bailout\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Government approves another R3 billion SAA bailout<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba has formally announced the new board of South African Airways.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":145511,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9872],"tags":[26,1675],"class_list":["post-206190","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-business","tag-headline","tag-saa"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/206190","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/10"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=206190"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/206190\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":206218,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/206190\/revisions\/206218"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/145511"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=206190"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=206190"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=206190"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
