Following confirmation that the FBI and UK authorities will be investigating the\u00a0\u201cGupta leaks\u201d, British lawmakers have flagged Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma among 27 people that UK financial institutions should review as possibly involved in criminal financial activities.<\/p>\n

According to a report by the Daily Dispatch<\/a><\/strong>, the ANC presidential hopeful is listed\u00a0alongside two current wives of president Zuma –\u00a0Bongi Ngema-Zuma and Thobeka Madiba-Zuma.<\/p>\n

Along with the Guptas, president Jacob Zuma and his sons and nephews, other names revealed to be part of the investigation include\u00a0Gupta associate, Eric Wood, and former Eskom executive Brian Molefe.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, UK regulators confirmed they would look into concerns raised by Lord Peter Hain that London-based banks might have handled illicit funds linked to the Gupta and Zuma families.<\/p>\n

He warned about UK banks\u2019 possible exposure to the Guptas, alleging that money may have passed through to the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong, where HSBC and Standard Chartered had large footprints.<\/p>\n

He also asked all UK financial institutions to \u201creview their exposure to Gupta and Zuma family members and their business.”<\/p>\n

Both the UK and US probes are directly related to allegations of money laundering in 2013, around the time of the infamous Gupta wedding, which was thrust into the spotlight when wedding guests bypassed South African laws by landing at the Waterkloof air base.<\/p>\n

The family has been accused of using money meant for a Free State farming project, run through several of its companies, to pay for the R30 million wedding.<\/p>\n
