{"id":20757,"date":"2012-08-27T12:02:31","date_gmt":"2012-08-27T10:02:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=20757"},"modified":"2012-08-27T12:05:01","modified_gmt":"2012-08-27T10:05:01","slug":"r168358-per-hour-and-40-hour-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/20757\/r168358-per-hour-and-40-hour-days\/","title":{"rendered":"R168,358 per hour and 40 hour days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sunday Times has reported that a PwC forensic report provided \u201calarming evidence of corruption\u201d at MTN, which involved invoices adding up to R12.2 million with no evidence that any work was done for MTN.<\/p>\n<p>The PwC findings involved 78 invoices approved by MTN corporate services boss, Robert Madzonga, from lawyer Nozuko Nxusani.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report there were many questionable issues related to these invoices, which include<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>MTN being billed for working for 40 hours a day on December 3 2010;<\/li>\n<li>MTN being billed for working for 37 hours a day on 30 September;<\/li>\n<li>Being paid up to R168,358 per hour;<\/li>\n<li>Nxusani charging MTN for drafting agreements that were actually signed months before the work;<\/li>\n<li>Madzonga approving invoices before actually getting them;<\/li>\n<li>Many MTN employees saying that they have never dealt with Nozuko Nxusani.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These revelations formed part of a labour court case where former MTN legal adviser, Violet Magagane-Malao alleges that MTN was sweeping her claims of corruption under the carpet.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Labour Court in Johannesburg heard testimony of multi-million rand corruption at cellphone company MTN, according to the Sunday report.<\/p>\n<p>Magagane-Malao said she was retrenched shortly after tipping off vice-president Ignatius Sehoole of claims that a senior official, corporate services boss Robert Madzonga, signed off on R12.2 million in dodgy invoices.<\/p>\n<p>Sehoole asked PricewaterhouseCoopers to investigate her claims.
