{"id":207735,"date":"2017-10-27T08:20:53","date_gmt":"2017-10-27T06:20:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=207735"},"modified":"2017-10-27T08:20:53","modified_gmt":"2017-10-27T06:20:53","slug":"expect-a-petrol-price-hike-next-week-thanks-to-a-weakening-rand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/energy\/207735\/expect-a-petrol-price-hike-next-week-thanks-to-a-weakening-rand\/","title":{"rendered":"Expect a petrol price hike next week thanks to a weakening rand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fuel prices are expected to rise further in November due to the continued rise in the crude oil price and the weakening of the exchange rate, which has come under renewed pressure this week after finance minister, Malusi Gigaba, painted a bleak economic picture for the country over the next several years.<\/p>\n<p>The rand traded at its worst level in more than a year on Wednesday after Gigaba&#8217;s mini-budget speech triggered downgrade warnings among analysts.<\/p>\n<p>Citing the latest information from the Department of Energy on Friday, independent economist Fanie Brink said that the price of <strong>petrol 93<\/strong> (ULP &amp;
