{"id":207951,"date":"2017-10-30T09:16:32","date_gmt":"2017-10-30T07:16:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=207951"},"modified":"2017-10-30T09:16:32","modified_gmt":"2017-10-30T07:16:32","slug":"cape-town-plans-to-nail-taxis-for-breaking-traffic-laws-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/207951\/cape-town-plans-to-nail-taxis-for-breaking-traffic-laws-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Cape Town plans to nail taxis for breaking traffic laws: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The City of Cape Town is reportedly planning to come down a lot harder on taxi drivers who flout the country&#8217;s road laws, with new regulations that could lead to the impounding of violators&#8217; vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>While many of the listed violations already carry a penalty like a fine, the city wants to introduce new regulations that will broaden the conditions under which the city is allowed to impound vehicles, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iol.co.za\/weekend-argus\/news\/city-of-cape-town-gets-tough-on-taxis-11752023\">reports IOL<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>These changes will take place through the changing of conditions in taxi operating permits, it said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the city, current enforcement has been ineffective and weak, with most fines simply not being paid.
