Probably about 40% of the calls were from professional persons, 40% from embassies and 20% from home owners. It’s just such a sought-after area,” Van Reenen told the paper.

The official Mayoral Residence has 5 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms, 2 Guest toilets, a triple garage, pool, a guard house, a full generator, and staff quarters.

Msimanga said that the money raised from the auction will be used to build low cost housing.

“We hope that we can build at least 40 or 50 houses, if not more. But we will also see if we build them per region or we do it once in an area and ensure that people who have been on the housing waiting list begin to benefit from it,” the mayor said.

It was reported that the former ANC administration in Tshwane spent R12 million for renovations for the mansion, which was originally bought for around R1.9 million in 2001.

You can find additional images of the home, here.

Read: A look at Robben Island’s R25 million solar plant

The home of the executive mayor of Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, is set to go under the hammer later this month, on the 23 November 2017.

[9880

post-208983","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-wealth
["GET
