Nedbank has announced that its ‘tap-and-go’ system pilot available at \u00a0the Sandton Gautrain station will eventually be available to all\u00a0commuters irrespective of who they bank with.<\/p>\n
The bank recently showcased the new ‘tap-and-go’ credit card technology at a presentation with Gautrain, announcing that the intent is to replace the current card system.<\/p>\n
The service is currently only available at the Gautrain station in Sandton, and for now, commuters must continue to use their Gautrain Gold cards.<\/p>\n
“The service – which in time will become available to all commuters irrespective of who they bank with – is not yet active to the public,” it said.<\/p>\n
“The live date of the service will be communicated by the Gautrain Management Agency and Bombela once the payment platform solution is ready.”<\/p>\n
Under the current system, Gautrain passengers must purchase a Gold Gautrain card, which they can top-up based on their expected travel routes.<\/p>\n
The card currently costs a once-off non-refundable payment of R16, and it is\u00a0valid for 5 years.<\/p>\n
