{"id":21032,"date":"2012-08-30T17:18:39","date_gmt":"2012-08-30T15:18:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=21032"},"modified":"2012-08-30T17:20:15","modified_gmt":"2012-08-30T15:20:15","slug":"icasa-releases-shortlist-for-new-council-members","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/21032\/icasa-releases-shortlist-for-new-council-members\/","title":{"rendered":"ICASA releases shortlist for new council members"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Communications has released a shortlist of candidates to fill three positions on the council of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).<\/p>\n<p>The three new councilors will replace current councilors Thabo Makhakhe, Nomvuyiso Batyi, and Fungai Khumbulani Sibanda, whose contracts expired\/will expire on 9 July 2012, 3 August 2012 and 30 September 2012 respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the ICASA councilors &#8211; Batyi and Makhakhe \u2013 had completed their first term of office on the ICASA Council, but were eligible for serving for a second term.
