The DA\u2019s internal polls indicate that the party could govern Gauteng in 2019 – but the party is facing internal fighting not dissimilar to that of the ANC.<\/p>\n
This is according to current Gauteng DA leader John Moodey, who told City Press <\/a><\/strong>this week that internal polls placed the DA in the early 40s percentile.<\/p>\n This is an increase from the 31% won in the 2014 general elections, which would require the party to\u00a0govern through a coalition.<\/p>\n Although the internal polls fluctuate, they have placed the DA in the late 40s percentile, with 51% being its highest percentage in recent months.<\/p>\n This has emboldened the party which already governs in the Western Cape; however internal fighting has marred the results, the report said.<\/p>\n Fighting<\/strong><\/p>\n While the battle between\u00a0Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma ad Cyril Ramaphosa has caught the public eye at a national level, the DA leaders who will emerge from next week\u2019s much-anticipated congress will also be responsible for helping steer the party to victory.<\/p>\n According to the City Press this has led to deep divisions between\u00a0Moodey and\u00a0his opponent, Ghaleb Cachalia.<\/p>\n The infighting came to ahead this past week after a series of “leaked” emails indicated that\u00a0membership audits in the province were not in order.<\/p>\n The fighting in Gauteng follows an ugly Western Cape provincial conference, with KwaZulu-Natal headed for a congress early next year.<\/p>\n DA leader Mmusi Maimane is expected to be re-elected, uncontested.<\/p>\n You can read the full story in today’s City Press<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
