Takealot was suffering from slow load times and unresponsive pages minutes into Black Friday 2017.<\/p>\n
The company\u2019s website was inaccessible just after midnight on the morning of 24 November, and the hours that followed.<\/p>\n
Takealot said it has temporarily taken down its website and apps due to the failure of a fundamental service within its platform.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe seem to have found the problem and are now busy working through a backlog of orders. We hope to be back online as soon as the site has been stabilised,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe apologise for disappointing any customers who are busy shopping.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cCustomers can rest assured that thousands of Blue Dot Sale deals are still available and the sale only closes at midnight on 28 November.\u201d<\/p>\n
Some users are able to access the site, but others are being turned away as the “store is full”. If you have items in your basked, you can proceed straight to the checkout, however.<\/p>\n
According to Takealot, its 2017 sale will cover five days, from Black Friday on 24 November \u2013 which is Takealot\u2019s Blue Dot sale \u2013 through the weekend to Cyber Monday on 27 November. The retailer said it will then follow up with Takealot Tuesday on the 28th.<\/p>\n
The group said it expects volumes to increase by 50% compared to 2016, where sales reached R56 million.<\/p>\n
