{"id":213089,"date":"2017-11-26T08:01:47","date_gmt":"2017-11-26T06:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=213089"},"modified":"2017-11-26T08:01:47","modified_gmt":"2017-11-26T06:01:47","slug":"ramaphosa-and-dlamini-zuma-are-both-claiming-victory-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/213089\/ramaphosa-and-dlamini-zuma-are-both-claiming-victory-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Ramaphosa and Dlamini-Zuma are both claiming victory: report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Presidential contenders, Cyril Ramaphosa and Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, are both claiming victory in their published numbers ahead of the ANC&#8217;s elective conference in December.<\/p>\n<p>According to a report by the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.news24.com\/SouthAfrica\/News\/cyril-dlamini-zuma-each-claim-victory-20171126-2\">City Press<\/a><\/strong>, Ramaphosa says he has secured 2,760 votes for the presidency &#8211; enough to win. However, Dlamini-Zuma&#8217;s recently published figures show she has 2,911 votes &#8211; also enough to win, with a significant lead over Ramaphosa.<\/p>\n<p>The conference will attended by by 4,723 delegates.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ramaphosa<\/strong> is being supported by the Western Cape, Eastern Cape, Nothern Cape, Limpopo and Gauteng ANC branches.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dlamini-Zuma<\/strong> is being supported by the North West, Free State and KwaZulu Natal, as well as the ANC Youth and Women&#8217;s leagues.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Loyalties in Mpumalanga are still unknown, the paper reported.<\/p>\n<p>Insiders in the Dlamini-Zuma camp have expressed confidence in her emerging victorious in the presidential battle, calling it a &#8216;done deal&#8217;. However, there are concerns that there will be another split in the ANC if the Ramaphosa camp loses.<\/p>\n<p>Ramaphosa&#8217;s side, too, is reportedly confident of a win, with his team already planning a road-map on how to govern the country after the 20th of December. His side has not declared that they will remain in the ANC should they lose.<\/p>\n<p>The ANC is adopting a new method of electing leaders to break slate politics.
