{"id":213791,"date":"2017-11-29T15:37:39","date_gmt":"2017-11-29T13:37:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=213791"},"modified":"2017-11-29T15:37:39","modified_gmt":"2017-11-29T13:37:39","slug":"minister-wont-be-investigating-multichoice-and-ann7-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/213791\/minister-wont-be-investigating-multichoice-and-ann7-deal\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister won&#8217;t be investigating Multichoice and ANN7 deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minister of Communications, Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane issued a statement on Wednesday in which she claimed that media reports saying she\u00a0will call for a probe into alleged corruption linked to payments made by Multichoice to ANN7 TV are factually incorrect.<\/p>\n<p>Kubayi-Ngubane reiterated that the Department of Communications cannot get involved on contractual issues between two private parties, and would only engage on broadcasting policy related matters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are relevant authorities of government that are competent to deal with any crime or corruption related matters,&#8221; said\u00a0Kubayi-Ngubane.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Members of the public are encouraged to follow the right channels to report any criminal activities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Furthermore, Minister has noted the media reports on the purported decision by lobby groups for Multichoice to remove ANN7 from DSTV. Minister Kubayi-Ngubane cannot be party to such engagement.
