{"id":214049,"date":"2017-11-30T14:45:15","date_gmt":"2017-11-30T12:45:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=214049"},"modified":"2017-11-30T14:48:27","modified_gmt":"2017-11-30T12:48:27","slug":"how-much-money-ministers-deputies-mps-king-and-queens-will-get-paid-in-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/government\/214049\/how-much-money-ministers-deputies-mps-king-and-queens-will-get-paid-in-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"How much money ministers, deputies, MPs, Kings and Queens will get paid in 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Jacob Zuma has approved salary increases for government officials, following a pay freeze in 2017 which affected most layers of government this past year.<\/p>\n<p>For cabinet ministers, deputy ministers and members of parliament (MPs), this will mark the first salary increase in two years.<\/p>\n<p>In 2016 (and 2017), the salary for ministers was at R2.31 million per annum &#8211; with the Zuma-approved 4% increase, this will now be around R2.4 million.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, for deputies, salaries will increase from R1.9 million to R1.98 million after the 4% hike.<\/p>\n<p>The 4% hike also applies to all judges and the provincial executive, who were also affected by the salary freeze.
