{"id":214895,"date":"2017-12-06T13:40:54","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T11:40:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=214895"},"modified":"2017-12-06T13:56:40","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T11:56:40","slug":"the-best-smartphone-contracts-for-your-kids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/214895\/the-best-smartphone-contracts-for-your-kids\/","title":{"rendered":"The best smartphone contracts for your kids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tariffic has released a new report helping parents identify the best cellphone contracts for their kids.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to kids and parents&#8217; cellphone needs, Tariffic found that\u00a0most kids would be comfortable with a cellphone package offering enough data for a few minutes of YouTube every day (when they\u2019re not connected to WiFi) and a lot of WhatsApp (messaging and calling), as well as sufficient minutes to call parents in an emergency.<\/p>\n<p>Parents are also concerned with their kids being on the wrong package, resulting in hefty bill shock at the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the above, the criteria for selecting the best cellphone contracts for kids included:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>The contract must have at least 1 GB of data<\/li>\n<li>The contract must have at least 50 minutes for calls<\/li>\n<li>Free WhatsApp is a plus but not required<\/li>\n<li>Contracts that help avoid bill-shock are preferable<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>The best<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Antony Seeff, Tariffic\u2019s CEO said that Telkom was the clear winner offering the cheapest contract for kids at R133, which is followed by MTN at R199.
