{"id":21684,"date":"2012-09-13T15:18:53","date_gmt":"2012-09-13T13:18:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=21684"},"modified":"2012-09-13T15:48:26","modified_gmt":"2012-09-13T13:48:26","slug":"pick-n-pays-online-recipe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/internet\/21684\/pick-n-pays-online-recipe\/","title":{"rendered":"Pick &#8216;n Pay&#8217;s online recipe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Mike Cotterell\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4848-Mike-Cotterell\">Mike Cotterell<\/a>, GM of online shopping at listed retailer <a title=\"Pick 'n Pay\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4849-Pick-n-Pay\">Pick &#8216;n Pay<\/a>, says the group continues to invest significantly in upgrading and improving its online shopping offering.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is in response to a growing customer demand for a multi-channel shopping experience which brings the website and service in line with best practice.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The GM said that an important component of the improvements has been to integrate the group\u2019s online service with its smart shopper loyalty reward programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now able to offer customers the ability to view, shop and create lists off their previous smart shopper purchases whether made in store or online,&#8221;\u00a0Cotterell said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This has significantly reduced the time taken to place orders, which was previously a barrier for first time shoppers. In addition customers can earn and spend smart shopper points as part of the experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pick &#8216;n Pay offers a list of the areas to which it delivers on its website. The delivery cost is determined by address and time slot and starts at R60.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur online offering is currently weighted towards household and business groceries, beverages, frozen foods, health and beauty products and a range of general merchandise items,\u201d said Cotterell.<\/p>\n<p>He pointed out that the group is increasingly seeing customers\u2019 buying fresh foods including vegetables, fruit and meat as their confidence with the service grows.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are actively engaged in growing the business in line with the customer demand and use customer feedback to help define a roadmap of improvements and new capabilities to be launched.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs yet we have not included our clothing range online, as we have focused on establishing our new way of working with our food and general merchandise ranges.
