{"id":22023,"date":"2012-09-13T08:57:03","date_gmt":"2012-09-13T06:57:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=22023"},"modified":"2012-09-13T08:59:54","modified_gmt":"2012-09-13T06:59:54","slug":"court-grants-leave-to-appeal-in-sassa-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/it-services\/22023\/court-grants-leave-to-appeal-in-sassa-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Court grants leave to appeal in Sassa case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The North Gauteng High Court has granted leave to appeal the judgment handed down on\u00a0August 28, in which it ruled that the tender process followed by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) was illegal and invalid, but that the award of the tender to <a title=\"Company Information\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/397049-Net1\" target=\"_blank\">Net 1<\/a>\u00a0UEPS Technologies subsidiary Cash Paymaster Services (CPS) would not be set aside and therefore remained valid.<\/p>\n<p>Net 1 is a listed provider of alternative payment systems,\u00a0and was granted a R10 billion state social grant\u00a0in January.<\/p>\n<p>According to Net 1, the court granted CPS and Sassa leave to appeal the ruling that the tender process was illegal and invalid and granted AllPay, an unsuccessful bidder and the applicant in this matter, leave to appeal the ruling that the contract between Sassa and CPS should not be set aside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe matter will now be heard before the South African Supreme Court of Appeal, as soon as it has scheduled a date for the proceedings.
