{"id":2237,"date":"2012-01-12T13:12:54","date_gmt":"2012-01-12T13:12:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=2237"},"modified":"2012-01-12T13:16:40","modified_gmt":"2012-01-12T13:16:40","slug":"toptv-reveals-porn-channel-launch-dates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/2237\/toptv-reveals-porn-channel-launch-dates\/","title":{"rendered":"TopTV reveals adult channel launch dates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Satellite pay-TV broadcaster <a title=\"TopTV\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/385929-TopTV\" target=\"_blank\">TopTV<\/a> plans to begin airing its PlayBoy TV channels on 20 January 2012 \u201cor shortly thereafter,\u201d it recently told South Africa\u2019s regulator, ICASA.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/226385-ICASA\" target=\"_blank\">Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA)<\/a> demanded that TopTV reveal its launch plans to them.<\/p>\n<p>This was so they could be sure TopTV wouldn\u2019t begin broadcasting its new adult channels before ICASA\u2019s public consultation process ran its course, explained TopTV\u2019s head of regulatory affairs, <a title=\"Thato Mahapa\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/390503-Thato-Mahapa\">Thato Mahapa<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"TopTV porn channel court battle looms\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/40995-toptv-porn-channel-court-battle-looms.html\">ICASA has also filed an urgent court interdict against TopTV<\/a> to prevent the broadcaster from launching it planned adult channels.
