{"id":22454,"date":"2012-09-19T11:43:56","date_gmt":"2012-09-19T09:43:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=22454"},"modified":"2012-09-19T14:12:14","modified_gmt":"2012-09-19T12:12:14","slug":"zte-mozilla-partner-on-new-os","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/software\/22454\/zte-mozilla-partner-on-new-os\/","title":{"rendered":"ZTE, Mozilla partner on new OS"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>China&#8217;s <a title=\"ZTE Corp\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1676-ZTE-Corporation\">ZTE Corp<\/a>, the world&#8217;s fourth largest mobile phone handset vendor, is cooperating with <a title=\"Mozilla\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4971-Mozilla\">Mozilla<\/a>, maker of web browser <a title=\"Firefox\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4972-Firefox\">Firefox<\/a>, to introduce a new mobile operating system later this year or early next year, a ZTE spokesman said on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The move is part of ZTE&#8217;s plan to diversify away from <a title=\"Google Inc\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1719-Google\">Google Inc<\/a>&#8216;s <a title=\"Android\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1754-Android\">Android<\/a> and <a title=\"Microsoft Corp\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1715-Microsoft\">Microsoft Corp<\/a>&#8216;s <a title=\"Windows\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4969-Windows-Phone\">Windows<\/a> into other operating systems. Smartphone market leader <a title=\"Apple Inc\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1648-Apple\">Apple Inc<\/a> is embroiled in legal disputes with some handset makers running Android.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are trying to increase our efforts in coming up with our own operating system, while introducing products based on Android,&#8221; said ZTE spokesman David Dai Shu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s all part of our wider plans to create a better balance of products using various operating systems.
