{"id":227689,"date":"2018-02-26T08:11:31","date_gmt":"2018-02-26T06:11:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=227689"},"modified":"2018-02-26T08:11:31","modified_gmt":"2018-02-26T06:11:31","slug":"volkswagen-announces-new-convertible-suv","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/227689\/volkswagen-announces-new-convertible-suv\/","title":{"rendered":"Volkswagen announces new convertible SUV"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Volkswagen has <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.volkswagen-media-services.com\/en\/detailpage\/-\/detail\/Volkswagen-brands-first-SUV-cabriolet-Supervisory-Board-confirms-cabriolet-version-of-T-Roc\/view\/6282552\/7a5bbec13158edd433c6630f5ac445da?p_p_auth=CmMnvqR0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> <\/strong>that it will soon be offering a convertible cabriolet based on its popular T-Roc SUV.<\/p>\n<p>The company said that the new model will be produced from the first half of 2020, and confirmed that it would be investing more than \u20ac80 million (R1.14 billion) in its Osnabr\u00fcck plant for this purpose.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Volkswagen is evolving into an SUV brand. The T-Roc is already setting new standards in the compact SUV segment,&#8221; said Dr Herbert Diess, CEO of the Volkswagen brand.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the cabriolet based on the T-Roc, we will be adding a highly emotional model to the range.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am especially pleased to note that we can count on the Osnabr\u00fcck team&#8217;s decades of experience with convertibles. The Osnabr\u00fcck plant now has bright prospects for the future,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>SUVs are currently making a key contribution to the growth of the Volkswagen Group&#8217;s core brand.
