{"id":23253,"date":"2012-09-28T13:27:05","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T11:27:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=23253"},"modified":"2012-09-28T14:35:02","modified_gmt":"2012-09-28T12:35:02","slug":"knott-craig-has-his-work-cut-out-joosub","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/23253\/knott-craig-has-his-work-cut-out-joosub\/","title":{"rendered":"Knott-Craig has his work cut out: Joosub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Vodacom Group\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1639-Vodacom\">Vodacom Group<\/a>\u00a0chief executive officer\u00a0<a title=\"Shameel Joosub\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4537-Shameel-Joosub\">Shameel Joosub<\/a>\u00a0says that current <a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1641-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> CEO, and former Vodacom CEO, \u00a0<a title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1642-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a> \u201chas his work cut out\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a round table event in Sandton on Friday (28 September), Joosub said:\u00a0 &#8220;He\u2019s (Knott-Craig) been a leader in the industry\u2026.he\u2019s a very clever guy, but he has got his work cut out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that Vodacom would stay competitive. \u201cVodacom is not going to roll-over,&#8221; Joosub\u00a0said.<\/p>\n<p>The Vodacom chief noted that in some instances the company would react to its competitors, whereas in other instances it would lead.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The point is not just matching it, but giving your customers even better value,&#8221; Joosub said. &#8220;You have to have a strategy and deliver on that strategy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Since taking over at Cell C, Knott-Craig has implemented a number of price reductions in the data space, led by a prepaid voice product and tariff plan called &#8220;99 Cents For Real&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, Vodacom said it would cut its international call rates to 51 destinations to 89 cents per minute, as of 1 October.
