{"id":23292,"date":"2012-09-28T16:38:14","date_gmt":"2012-09-28T14:38:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=23292"},"modified":"2012-09-28T16:47:35","modified_gmt":"2012-09-28T14:47:35","slug":"e-toll-discussions-to-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/23292\/e-toll-discussions-to-continue\/","title":{"rendered":"E-toll discussions to continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Talks on the Gauteng freeway project between government and concerned parties would continue next week, the office of the deputy president said on Friday (28 September 2012).<\/p>\n<p>Spokesman Thabo Masebe said government had met the Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (<a title=\"Outa\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1949-OUTA-Opposition-to-Urban-Tolling-Alliance\">Outa<\/a>), the Federation of Unions of SA (<a title=\"Fedusa\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/5189-Federation-of-Unions-of-South-Africa-%28FEDUSA%29\">Fedusa<\/a>), Business Unity SA and the Road Freight Agency during the week.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What we&#8217;ve found is that government and the various organisations have become much closer&#8230; a lot of progress has been made and they&#8217;re agreeing on most things,&#8221; said Masebe.<\/p>\n<p>Motlanthe heads the inter-ministerial committee on the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the <a title=\"SABC\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/5190-South-African-Broadcasting-Corporation-%28SABC%29\">SABC<\/a> reported that Motlanthe had given an indication that the tolls would go ahead during an interview with the broadcaster.<\/p>\n<p>He was quoted as saying: &#8220;Almost all of them accepted the principle of user-paying. We hope to complete consultations by mid-week.
