Despite concerns over the fragile state of the Eurozone economy, and talk of a global recession in 2012, independent telecommunications solutions provider, Nashua Mobile,<\/a> says that the consumer market is healthy.<\/p>\n

In an interview with BusinessTech, Chris Radley<\/a>, managing director at Nashua Mobile said: “The consumer market is healthy – perhaps surprisingly so. Customers are willing to pay a premium for high-end phones that give them a good experience for social networking, Web access and other advanced applications.”<\/p>\n

“We have actually seen our bad debt fall in recent months. While that is partly because of processes we have put in place to help customers manage their spending and debt, I think it shows that the consumer economy is healthier than many people think. It bodes well for the year ahead.”<\/p>\n

Radley pointed out that the group’s corporate customers are more conservative and value-driven in their use of technology. “They are not only looking for lower costs, but they also expect better service. We are investing in the systems and people to meet their needs,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to Nashua Mobile, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the JSE-listed Reunert<\/a> (RLO), the group will allocate its capital expenditure budget towards improving customer service systems.<\/p>\n

“Our capital expenditure is relatively modest compared to the major network operators, since we don’t own network infrastructure. We have earmarked an amount in the tens of millions of rand for capex this year, all of which will be spent on improving customer service systems,” Radley concluded.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
