They include mobile device management, the ability to write applications for mobile devices and the ability to integrate the applications into the organisation’s back-end systems,” said Tony de Sousa, products executive at Gijima.

According to Gijima, in order for mobility solution to be truly effective for any organisation, the business needs to be able to effectively secure, monitor and deploy applications.

The group notes that security becomes an obvious concern in the management of these devices, as they are used to access sensitive information external to a company’s reach and control.

“The security aspect is of particular concern as we move into the era of ‘bring your own device’. After all, there is no doubt that employees that are able to access a multitude of mobile business applications from a mobile device are likely to be more productive and deliver efficient and improved service levels,” de Sousa said.

“Providing employees with access to the necessary mobile business applications that will enable them to achieve their business objectives effectively, while at the same time implementing an efficient mobile device management strategy is what is required. Gijima has considered the question ‘how do we support mobility?’ and has created mobileIT to provide the answer,” he continued.

According to outgoing Gijima CEO, Jonas Bogoshi, the company is ideally positioned to provide the answer to the mobility conundrum. He says that Gijima is able to leverage its vast reservoir of technical expertise and understanding of the broader issues around mobility, thereby solving not only the technical problems associated with mobile IT management, but actually bringing maturity to the overall environment.

“Moreover, we have developed mobileIT to serve the needs of the African market. We do not believe it is enough to create a mobility solution that only takes into account the requirements of smart phones. Therefore, our Gijima apps developer workbench has been created with a view to ensuring operation across all devices and multiple operating systems,” he said.

Bogoshi stresses that the mobileIT platform is equally capable of operating on smart and feature phones.

“Ultimately, with mobileIT, enterprises will be able to fully and comprehensively plan, implement and manage all aspects of mobility from a single integrated mobility platform, that simplifies everything mobile,” de Sousa said.

Related article

Gijima to cast wide net for new CEO

Gijima CEO steps down

Gijima close to sale of MineRP

Solidarity prevents retrenchments at Gijima

Gijima FY revenue seen flat

Gijima secures long term funding extension

Gijima advises shareholders of discussions

Absa to continue business with Gijima

Absa takes Gijima project in-house

Gijima to trim staff by 8-12%

Gijima has unveiled its new mobility solution, ‘mobileIT’ as a single integrated platform built by South Africans for Africa.

[31
25,641,1834,2348
post-23529","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-it-services","tag-active","tag-gijima","tag-jonas-bogoshi","tag-mobility
["GET
