{"id":23557,"date":"2012-10-04T00:08:21","date_gmt":"2012-10-03T22:08:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=23557"},"modified":"2012-10-04T11:03:25","modified_gmt":"2012-10-04T09:03:25","slug":"cell-cs-explosive-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/23557\/cell-cs-explosive-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"Cell C&#8217;s explosive growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1641-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> had more than\u00a0750,000 gross additions in September, with\u00a0net additions in the &#8220;hundreds of thousands&#8221; according to CEO\u00a0<a title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1642-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to September, Cell C signed up around 700,000 new subscribers each month, but according to Knott-Craig, the net additions were close to zero.<\/p>\n<p>The group&#8217;s poor net additions were partly due to churn, and partly because the company was cleaning its subscriber databases to rid it of any inactive subscribers and other &#8220;rubbish&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>September however, showed a great turnaround for Cell C, with a high number of both gross additions and net additions \u2013 partly fuelled by the company\u2019s aggressive data products, it said.<\/p>\n<p>The next challenge will be for the mobile operator to make these new customers stay.
