{"id":238137,"date":"2018-04-16T10:49:47","date_gmt":"2018-04-16T08:49:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=238137"},"modified":"2018-04-16T10:49:47","modified_gmt":"2018-04-16T08:49:47","slug":"a-look-at-nissans-new-fortuner-competitor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/motoring\/238137\/a-look-at-nissans-new-fortuner-competitor\/","title":{"rendered":"A look at Nissan&#8217;s new Fortuner competitor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nissan has officially launched\u00a0its new Terra, a body-on-frame SUV designed and built in China to meet the growing market demand for 4&#215;4 vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>It comes equipped with a versatile ladder-frame chassis, reinforced to give it greater rigidity, and features a five-link coil spring rear suspension system and rigid rear-wheel axle, a four-wheel-drive system, and hill start assist.<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle boasts best-in-class ground clearance, at 225 millimeters, to minimize potential damage from rough or uneven roads.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to its on- and off-road capabilities, the Terra also offers improved technology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;High-spec technologies have been introduced to cut engine, wind, and road noise \u2013 giving passengers a space to talk together easily. The Terra also has an upgraded and enhanced audio and navigation system, allowing users to mirror their smartphones,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" 225mm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>South Africa<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With SUVs remaining a popular choice for South African motorists, the Terra would launch as a direct competitor to Toyota&#8217;s Fortuner and Ford&#8217;s Everest models.<\/p>\n<p>While Nissan South Africa has not officially confirmed whether the Terra will be heading to South Africa, it is likely that it could launch here under a different name.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.carmag.co.za\/news\/nissan-terra-details-navara-based-suv-released\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CARmag<\/a> <\/strong>in February, Nissan South Africa said that it was working closely with its parent company to develop a vehicle that is suitable to the sub-Saharan market, however it was not in a position to
