JSE<\/a>-listed ICT group\u00a0Gijima<\/a> has announced the appointment of Eileen Wilton<\/a> as\u00a0interim CEO.<\/p>\n

Wilton takes over from Jonas Bogoshi<\/a>, who has led the company for the past five years and\u00a0is leaving to pursue other interests.<\/p>\n

Formerly chief information officer at Old Mutual<\/a> and Anglo American<\/a>, Wilton joined\u00a0Gijima earlier this year as its chief operating officer (COO).<\/p>\n

Her responsibilities included\u00a0working closely with Bogoshi to develop and implement Gijima\u2019s service delivery and growth\u00a0strategy \u2013 a plan that entails enhancing the company\u2019s competitive advantage, increasing\u00a0its footprint in Africa and other identified growth markets and deploying its home-grown\u00a0intellectual property to the market.<\/p>\n

Wilton will work closely with Bogoshi over the next three months to ensure a seamless\u00a0handover and business continuity.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the full backing of the board and the chairman, I am happy to step-in as interim\u00a0CEO during this transition period while the search for a permanent replacement for Jonas\u00a0continues,\u201d said Wilton.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs interim CEO, I will continue to make sure we deliver high quality\u00a0service to our clients. Our commitment towards our people and the achievement of a high\u00a0performance organization is clear, together with the drive to create an innovation culture and\u00a0the establishment of home grown intellectual property.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bogoshi says he is satisfied with the position in which he leaves Gijima.\u00a0\u201cI joined Gijima in 2007 with a clear target to build a solid customer centric company\u00a0following the merger with AST. I believe we have done that.<\/p>\n

“My biggest objective though\u00a0was creating intellectual property (IP) in a South African-owned company. Gijima launched\u00a0its first mobile IT platform at the beginning of October. Not only is this a first for Gijima but\u00a0the IP will create annuity revenue for the company,\u201d Bogoshi said.<\/p>\n

The board of Gijima says Bogoshi leaves behind a company whose solid footing positions it\u00a0well for growth.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have confidence in Eileen Wilton\u2019s competence and ability to continue on the current\u00a0trajectory that puts the needs and wants of our customers first. She has proven herself to be\u00a0an asset to the company in a short period of time,\u201d said Gijima chairman Robert Gumede<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile Gijima said its\u00a0\u00a0board would continue its local and international search for potential\u00a0candidates for the CEO position.<\/p>\n
