Vox Telecom<\/a> CEO Douglas Reed<\/a> says that the company is well-positioned to take advantage of the trend towards converged telecommunications services, adding that it is currently testing some mobile solutions from Cell C<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Many South African companies are set to launch converged voice and data products, including converged mobile data and voice services. Vox Telecom is no exception.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ideally suited to take advantage of the convergence trend because traditionally we provided a mobile solution as a fixed line solution, and already have the relationships with all the suppliers and a large customer base,\u201d said Reed.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently we are investigating and testing corporate solutions with Cell C as well as VoIP SIP accounts for mobile customers,\u201d Reed added.<\/p>\n

Reed previously said that Vox is also in the process of moving its business products off ADSL solutions onto fibre.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn our business stuff, we are trying to move all our businesses off ADSL solutions, onto fibre. We think it\u2019s time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s quite a surprising market this; customers are demanding huge download speeds on their mobile phones and at home, but businesses are quite happy to work on a meg (MB), so we just [have] to re-educate businesses to the 10\/15\/20 meg sizes which is starting to happen now, the fibre prices are coming down.” he said.<\/p>\n

“On the business side, we are having a massive push to changing everything to fibre,\u201d Reed said.<\/p>\n
