especially at the primary school level.<\/p>\n<p>Factoring in Old Mutual&#8217;s expected cost of R34,613 for a year of schooling at a public primary or high school, BusinessTech looked at the biggest players in the market, and how their fees compare.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPARK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Spark.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-173939 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Spark.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Spark.jpg 600w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Spark-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>SPARK&#8217;s primary schools offer facilities for students from Grade R &#8211; Grade 7.<\/p>\n<p>Each curriculum used encompasses the requirements of the CAPS curriculum, however there special focus is given to dynamic and individualised teaching, which ensures that scholars are learning the curriculum in new ways that are interesting for them.<\/p>\n<p>According to the school&#8217;s website, two payment options are available for the 2019 school year\u00a0 &#8211; an annual tuition cost of\u00a0<strong>R23,100 per year<\/strong>, or a monthly tuition cost of R2,310 over 10 months.<\/p>\n<p>In addition,\u00a0the school will provide all necessary stationery for students upon receipt of an annual stationery fee and parents are not responsible for purchasing textbooks or replenishing school stationery (a R500 once off cost).<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Pembury (PLG)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PLG.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-244531\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PLG.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PLG.jpg 725w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/PLG-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Pembury&#8217;s Lifestyle Group and its school&#8217;s have grown aggressively since its official listing on the AltX board in\u00a0March 2017.<\/p>\n<p>It currently boasts more than ten schools across Gauteng, the North West and Limpopo, with facilities for students from Grade R through to matric.<\/p>\n<p>Each school offers vastly different <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.plgschools.co.za\/fees\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fees<\/a><\/strong>, with the PLG Willow View Academy charging <strong>R26,400 to R36,300<\/strong> between Grade R and Grade 7. While you can expect to pay between <strong>R46,200 and R51,700<\/strong> between Grade 8 and matric.<\/p>\n<p>In contrast you can expect to pay significantly more at PLG&#8217;s Northriding Academy which charges R<strong>32,450 to R42,350<\/strong>\u00a0Grade R and Grade 7, and\u00a0<strong>R52,800<\/strong> between Grades 8-10,<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Curro<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Curro.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-189393 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Curro.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"430\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Curro.png 640w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/08\/Curro-300x202.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Arguably no other South African private school group has seen as much growth as Curro over the last few years.<\/p>\n<p>The group develops, acquires and manages independent schools for learners from the age of three months to Grade 12.<\/p>\n<p>The different school models are Curro Castles (nursery schools), Curro, Curro Academy, Meridian and Select schools &#8211; with construction on five new campuses across the country planned for 2018 and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, the school was named directly by the Sunday Times due to the number of drop-outs it has seen due to rising schools fees.<\/p>\n<p>As with the other options on this list, the fees differ depending on the school &#8211; however they are no longer directly accessible on the Curro website and you are required to contact the school directly for more information.<\/p>\n<p>However a recent <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.co.za\/curro-is-considering-a-school-fee-loan-for-grade-9-and-up-2018-4\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Business Insider<\/a><\/strong> report notes that the average school fee per pupil was <strong>R41,600 in 2017<\/strong> &#8211;
