The performance of mid-range smartphones has improved dramatically recently, following several new model launches from premium brands including Huawei and Samsung.<\/p>\n

Huawei began life in the more affordable segment, but has since made a play in recent years to compete with Apple and Samsung in the high-end space through its P and Mate range of phones. This month however, the Chinese based firm launched a series new mid-range Y Series smartphones in South Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecently, the performance of mid-range phones has dramatically improved and Huawei has decided to bring these key features to the South African market,\u201d said Likun Zhao, vice president Huawei Consumer Business Group Southern Africa.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn today\u2019s market, the devices competing in the same price range as the new Y Series often deliver uninspiring experiences,\u201d said Zhao.<\/p>\n

The Y Series offers users the features they need while providing a high-end experience, he said.<\/p>\n
