{"id":25136,"date":"2012-10-25T21:37:45","date_gmt":"2012-10-25T19:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=25136"},"modified":"2012-10-26T08:48:31","modified_gmt":"2012-10-26T06:48:31","slug":"standard-bank-to-offer-samsung-windows-8-tablet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/banking\/25136\/standard-bank-to-offer-samsung-windows-8-tablet\/","title":{"rendered":"Standard Bank to offer Samsung Windows 8 tablet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Standard Bank\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2385-Standard-Bank\">Standard Bank<\/a> cheque or credit card holders will be able to buy the <a title=\"Samsung\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1813-Samsung\">Samsung<\/a> Ativ tablet PC at a discounted price before it officially launches into the South African market.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Microsoft\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1715-Microsoft\">Microsoft<\/a>, Samsung, and Standard Bank announced their partnership in a press statement issued at the South African Windows 8 launch in Johannesburg tonight (25 October 2012).<\/p>\n<p>The Ativ tablets run <a title=\"Windows\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1884-Windows\">Windows<\/a> 8 and will sell for R6,695, while the companies say that the normal retail price is R7,999. It will come with a free cover.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Bank warned that there are a limited number available and explained that should customers choose to pay via their credit card they will by default be put on the budget option at a 0% interest rate.<\/p>\n<p>The tablets will be available from the Standard Bank website.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung said that its Windows Ativ tablet is 8.9mm thick and weighs 570g. It has a 10.1\u201d HD display, 2GB RAM, a microSD card slot and a USB port.<\/p>\n<p>Standard Bank also announced that its banking app, which is available on <a title=\"iOS\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4613-iOS-%28Operating-System%29\">iOS<\/a>, <a title=\"Android\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1754-Android\">Android<\/a>, and <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1752-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a>, will also be the first SA banking app in the Windows 8 app store.<\/p>\n<p>The bank is further offering customers an ADSL service at a 15% discount through <a title=\"Internet Solutions\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2038-Internet-Solutions\">Internet Solutions<\/a>.
