{"id":25542,"date":"2012-10-31T12:28:54","date_gmt":"2012-10-31T10:28:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=25542"},"modified":"2012-10-31T13:35:07","modified_gmt":"2012-10-31T11:35:07","slug":"cell-c-launches-aggressively-priced-data-promotions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/mobile\/25542\/cell-c-launches-aggressively-priced-data-promotions\/","title":{"rendered":"Cell C launches aggressively-priced data promotions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Cell C\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1641-Cell-C\">Cell C<\/a> is launching two new promotional data packages that offer customers Internet access at less than R9 per gigabyte of data.<\/p>\n<p>The pre-paid offering, Giga 200, will give customers a 50GB peak data bundle that can be used from 6am to midnight, and a 150GB midnight data bundle that can be used from midnight to 6am.<\/p>\n<p>The Giga 200 pre-paid SIM-only package will cost R1,799 once-off with a total of 200GB of inclusive data valid for 365 days. That works out to less than R9 per GB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur customers have been asking for a pre-paid option that will allow them to download large files and perform system and application updates during the night. We are pleased to be able to bring them a product that will give them more flexibility with their data,\u201d said Cell C CEO <a title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/1642-Alan-Knott-Craig-%28Senior%29\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside the pre-paid product, Cell C is introducing Giga 20, a 12-month contract promotion that will provide customers with a total of 20GB of data to use each month.<\/p>\n<p>Giga 20 includes a 5GB peak data bundle that can be used from 6am to midnight, and a 15GB midnight data bundle that can be used from midnight to 6am.<\/p>\n<p>The Giga 20 contract package will cost R189 per month and will be available at all service providers and Cell C franchise stores.<\/p>\n<p>The inclusive monthly data will be loaded on the first of every month and will be valid for that month.<\/p>\n<p>The first month\u2019s subscription and inclusive data will be pro-rated, and thereafter the full rate will apply.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_3515\" style=\"width: 610px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Alan-Knott-Craig2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3515\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3515\" title=\"Alan Knott-Craig\" src=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Alan-Knott-Craig2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Alan-Knott-Craig2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/Alan-Knott-Craig2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-3515\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Alan Knott-Craig<\/p><\/div>\n<p>When using either of the new Giga packages, the data usage will automatically switch between using the peak data bundle and the midnight data bundle at midnight each day.<\/p>\n<p>If customers run out of either of the bundles, they will be charged an out-of-bundle rate of 15c per MB.<\/p>\n<p>Subscribers who select the Top-Up option will be charged for out of bundle usage only if they have recharged with airtime. This option is convenient for customers who wish to control their data spend and don\u2019t want any surprises at the end of the month.<\/p>\n<p>The Giga promotions are only valid on the Cell C network and roaming does not apply.
