Telkom<\/a> chief executive officer, Nombulelo Moholi<\/a> is to step down from the company, following months of speculation.<\/p>\n

In September, Moholi, who was appointed in April 2011,\u00a0rejected speculation that she intended to resign.<\/p>\n

Last month\u00a0Government, which has a 39.8% stake in Telkom, blocked the appointments of four directors at the group\u2019s AGM.<\/p>\n

Telkom chairperson\u00a0Lazarus Zim<\/a>,\u00a0Julia Hope<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Jackie Huntley<\/a>\u00a0stepped down from the group\u2019s board.<\/p>\n

“Ms\u00a0Moholi has given the Board the requisite six months notice in this regard. The Board will\u00a0embark on a process of finding a replacement chief executive officer once it has filled
\nthe current vacancies and there are at least eight \u00a0directors as required by the\u00a0Memorandum of Incorporation,” Telkom said in a statement on Monday (5 November).<\/p>\n

“The process of filling the vacancies on the board has\u00a0commenced and announcements will be made in due course.”<\/p>\n

The group also\u00a0advised that Neo Phakama Dongwana<\/a> informed the Telkom Board of her resignation as director effective 2 November 2012.<\/p>\n

“The Board thanks Ms Dongwana for her valuable contribution to Telkom and wishes her well in \u00a0her future endeavours,” it said.<\/p>\n

In September, Telkom warned that\u00a0its headline earnings per share from continuing operations for the six months ending September 2012 were expected to be at least 65% lower than the prior comparative period.<\/p>\n

HEPS from continuing operations for the six months ended September 2011 stood at 191.7 cents, 35.5% lower than in 2010.<\/p>\n
