It includes all assets &#8211; property, cash, equity, business interests &#8211; less any liabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/201286\/average-household-wealth-in-south-africa-versus-the-world\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Allianz Global<\/a> showed that South Africa\u2019s gross financial assets per capita amounted to \u20ac9,470 (R146,000), while net financial assets amounted to \u20ac7,080 (R110,000) per capita.<\/p>\n<p>Allianz calculated that South Africa\u2019s GDP per capita has increased to \u20ac5,350 (R<span id=\"knowledge-currency__tgt-amount\" class=\"DFlfde\">82,661<\/span>) from \u20ac4,351 in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>And in a more recent report, as part of the AfrAsia Bank South Africa <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/240253\/this-is-how-many-rand-billionaires-south-africa-has-right-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wealth Report 2018<\/a>, New World Wealth looked at where South Africa stands in the global wealth picture.<\/p>\n<p>It showed that the average household net-adjusted disposable income per capita is $10,872 (R143,706).<\/p>\n<p>The country is home to 43,600 HNWIs, each with net assets of $1 million or more, and 2,200 multimillionaires, each with net assets of US$10 million or more.<\/p>\n<p>The country has as many as 98 centi-millionaires, each with net assets of $100 million or more, that\u2019s R1.22 billion at the current rate of exchange, NWW&#8217;s report found.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Average salary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Stats SA meanwhile, reported in June that the average monthly salary for South Africans has declined, while other data shows that the average take-home pay has dropped dramatically.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/254265\/this-is-how-much-the-average-employee-gets-paid-in-south-africa\/\"><strong>Stats SA<\/strong><\/a>, average monthly earnings paid to employees in the formal non-agricultural sector decreased from R20,060 in November 2017 to <strong>R19,858<\/strong> in February 2018 \u2013 though this was up 5% year on year from R18,913 in February 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Expressed as an annual salary, this equates to R238,300 a year.<\/p>\n<p>A separate release from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/business\/254681\/heres-the-average-take-home-pay-in-south-africa-right-now\/\">BankservAfrica<\/a><\/strong> showed that the average take-home salary was significantly lower at R13,621 a month \u2013 or R163,450 a year.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>Read: <a href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wealth\/257935\/how-much-money-south-africas-top-ceos-earn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How much money South Africa\u2019s top CEOs earn<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Data from New World Wealth shows that the per capita wealth in South Africa amounts to $12,900 (R170,500), up from $11,300 (R149,000) in 2016.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":10,"featured_media":260913,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[9880],"tags":[26,13251],"class_list":["post-260945","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-wealth","tag-headline","tag-new-world-wealt"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/260945","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/10"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=260945"}],"version-history":[{"count":3,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/260945\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":260963,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/260945\/revisions\/260963"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/260913"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=260945"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=260945"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=260945"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
