FibreCo anticipates launching its Managed Fibre service on this link in Q1 2013.

In parallel with the trenching process, FibreCo is busy with the commissioning of its repeater sites along the route, as well as the blowing, splicing and testing of the fibre.

FibreCo and ZTE also committed to training at least 200 technicians who will be identified locally along the entire route of its phase 1 network between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

Interviews have commenced to recruit trainees within the Free State Province, with the first training workshop scheduled to take place in the next few weeks, followed by workshops in Johannesburg and East London during early 2013.

FibreCo aims to integrate some of the successful candidates into the operations and maintenance of its network. This training programme is accredited by the Fibre Optic Association (FOA), where certification is recognised in the fibre networking industry worldwide.

Related articles

Bandwidth isn’t free, but it’s darn cheap

Cheaper connectivity through fibre network

DFA enters Mthatha with R10m kitty

FibreCo on target for East London 2013 date

FibreCo lays out fibre network launch window

FibreCo Telecommunications (FibreCo) today announced that it is making good progress on the construction of its first fibre optic link connecting Johannesburg, Bloemfontein and East London.

[9882
25,1622,1620
post-26107","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-internet","tag-active","tag-fibre","tag-fibreco
["GET
