{"id":263901,"date":"2018-08-08T10:26:51","date_gmt":"2018-08-08T08:26:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=263901"},"modified":"2018-08-08T10:26:51","modified_gmt":"2018-08-08T08:26:51","slug":"naspers-appoints-ceo-for-new-video-unit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/media\/263901\/naspers-appoints-ceo-for-new-video-unit\/","title":{"rendered":"Naspers appoints CEO for new video unit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naspers&#8217; video entertainment has appointed Niclas Ekdahl as CEO of its new over the top (OTT) video unit, Connected Video.<\/p>\n<p>The new unit was established to run the Showmax and DStv Now internet TV services in Africa and is also responsible for developing new OTT services for the MultiChoice group.<\/p>\n<p>Ekdahl has over 19 years executive leadership experience in the audio visual services industry. This includes heading up the Pay-TV channel division for Viasat Broadcasting in London and leading OTT and video on demand service in the Nordic region as CEO of Viaplay.<\/p>\n<p>Most recently, he was managing director for Nuvu &#8211; Stockholm and Johannesburg, a VOD service launched by Ericsson in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;OTT video services are growing rapidly across Africa.
