{"id":26905,"date":"2012-11-20T08:59:03","date_gmt":"2012-11-20T06:59:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=26905"},"modified":"2012-11-20T14:44:58","modified_gmt":"2012-11-20T12:44:58","slug":"reunert-lifts-full-year-profit-by-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/26905\/reunert-lifts-full-year-profit-by-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Reunert lifts full-year profit by 10%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Reunert\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2462-Reunert\">Reunert<\/a> has on Tuesday (20 November) announced a\u00a010% rise in\u00a0operating\u00a0profit to R1.525 billion\u00a0for the year ended September 2012.<\/p>\n<p>The group upped its final gross cash dividend to 275 cents per share, from 253 cents per share in 2011,\u00a0bringing the total cash dividend for the year\u00a0to 370 cents per share, from 330 cents before.<\/p>\n<p>Reunert eported a 9% increase in normalised headline earnings per share to 644.4 cents per share from 590 cents befor.<\/p>\n<p>Although revenues from\u00a0our various businesses remained under pressure, particularly in the second half of the financial year, revenue increased by 7% to\u00a0R11.662 billion, it said.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua improved revenue by 4% to R7.218 billion whilst operating profit increased by 6%<br \/>\nto R839 million.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The office automation business increased unit sales over last year in a market characterised by lacklustre demand and heightened\u00a0competition. Revenue was further supported by the benefit of a full year\u2019s trading from franchise acquisitions in 2011,&#8221; Reunert said.<\/p>\n<p>Operating profit,\u00a0however, was adversely affected by a sharp weakening of the Rand that exacerbated mounting pressure on margins.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Nashua ECN\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/4953-Nashua-ECN\">Nashua ECN<\/a> continued with the migration of the least cost routing (LCR) clients of <a title=\"Nashua Mobile\" href=\"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/forum\/showthread.php\/2281-Nashua-Mobile\">Nashua Mobile<\/a> to the VoIP, as well as pursuing new\u00a0clients, Reunert said. &#8220;At year end the business was routing almost 3,5 million business call voice minutes per day. As a consequence, ECN has delivered\u00a0a pleasing result, both in terms of revenue growth and operating profit,&#8221; it added.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua Communications and Nashua ECN were merged on 1 October 2012.<\/p>\n<p>Nashua Mobile reported a loss of LCR customers, while a reduction in the interconnect rates also impacted the business.\u00a0The division&#8217;s post-paid\u00a0customer base grew by 6% to 897,534 customers while the average revenue per customer declined by 19% to R337. &#8220;Although, as\u00a0expected, revenue declined slightly, judicious cost control allowed operating profit margins to remain constant,&#8221; Reunert said.<\/p>\n<p>Revenue for CBI-electric\u00a0increased by 9% to R3.634 billion due to strong demand for certain electrical products as well as increased exports. Operating\u00a0profit remained at R593 million.<\/p>\n<p>Reutech upped its\u00a0revenue for the year of 26% to R806 million with a\u00a0substantial increase in operating profit to R151 million.
