MTN<\/a> has on Wednesday (21 November) launched its new enterprise business unit, putting its mobile and ICT business into one unit.<\/p>\n

Incorporated into the new business will be a commercial cloud offering which, according to MTN, it aims to launch before the end of the year.<\/p>\n

The group said it has formerly transferred the assets of MTN Business<\/a> into its mobile company, with the legal work completed.<\/p>\n

By 2015, the enterprise business needed to contribute at least 20% to total operations, said Farhad Khan<\/a>, executive for the new enterprise business division, and former CEO of MTN Zambia.<\/p>\n

Current CFO at MTN SA, Zunaid Bulbulia<\/a> will head up the new unit under the title of acting chief enterprise business officer. He said that MTN has had a \u201cpatchy record\u201d in the enterprise space in the past, being slow to market.<\/p>\n

He said that MTN is better known for being a \u201cslick consumer engine\u201d. The new enterprise lead said that MTN hopes to remedy that, with three new product offerings initially within the next week.<\/p>\n

Within those new products, MTN announced the launch of its SME ProPack service, targeted at small businesses who, it said, plays a critical part in the economy. The new service aims to provide value added services to make \u201clife easier for SMEs\u201d.<\/p>\n

SME ProPack will offer users a new networking opportunity, among other services.<\/p>\n

The group also officially unveiled its ECUG (Enterprise Closed User Group) product, a business voice bundle solution targeted at larger companies, enabling employees to call each other at reduced rates.<\/p>\n

A Push-to-Talk (PTT) product is also set to re-launch on Friday (23 November).<\/p>\n

MTN originally launched PTT in 2007, enabling companies to \u201cget instant, seamless, secure and quick communication with individuals or groups within their company\u201d.<\/p>\n

However, it said on Tuesday (20 November) that this product failed to properly take-off.<\/p>\n

Bulbulia said of ECUG:\u00a0\u201cCorporates are under pressure to reduce their operation expenses (Opex) and while many are under the perception that VoIP is a cheaper option, they are not witnessing the immediate benefits.<\/p>\n

\u201cA Closed User Group, on the other hand, offers business real cost efficiency and immediate control through the benefit of more cost effective call rates. All this while still receiving reliable and quality communication services, without having to incur any additional infrastructure and maintenance costs for your organisation.\u201d<\/p>\n
