{"id":276721,"date":"2018-10-11T09:27:01","date_gmt":"2018-10-11T07:27:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=276721"},"modified":"2018-10-11T09:27:01","modified_gmt":"2018-10-11T07:27:01","slug":"these-are-the-9-biggest-things-stressing-south-africans-out-right-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/lifestyle\/276721\/these-are-the-9-biggest-things-stressing-south-africans-out-right-now\/","title":{"rendered":"These are the 9 biggest things stressing South Africans out right now"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ipsos has released its latest \u2018<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipsos.com\/en\/what-worries-world-september-2018\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What Worries the World<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 study, which surveys 28 countries around the world about their biggest worries.<\/p>\n<p>The findings are based on 20,787 interviews conducted between 24 August 2018 \u2013 7 September 2018 among adults aged 16-64 in countries.The data was weighted to match the profile of the population.<\/p>\n<p>Once more, China (92%) inspires the most confidence about national direction. Saudi Arabia (78%) remains in second place with India (67%) in third position. Malaysia (65%) rising-8-percentage points to fourth place.<\/p>\n<p>At the other end of the spectrum &#8211; Brazilian, Spanish, South African, French and Peruvian citizens have the greatest apprehension about the direction taken by their country.<\/p>\n<p>Just 12% of Brazilians think their country is going in the right direction, followed by 19% in both Spain and in South Africa. 24% of French citizens believe their nation is on the wrong track.<\/p>\n<p>Following South Korea (-8%), South Africa has also seen the largest drop in national optimism (-7%) with only 19% of South Africans believing the nation is on the right track \u2013 a massive fall of 33 percentage points from a recent peak in March (52%) in the wake of Cyril Ramaphosa\u2019s appointment as the new ANC party leader.<\/p>\n<p><a  data-lightbox=\"post-image\" href=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Right-Track.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-276723 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Right-Track.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1115\" height=\"782\" srcset=\"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Right-Track.jpg 1115w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Right-Track-300x210.jpg 300w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Right-Track-768x539.jpg 768w, https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/Right-Track-1024x718.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1115px) 100vw, 1115px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The study found that the majority of people around the world worry about five main things \u2013 financial\/political corruption (34%), unemployment (33%), poverty\/social inequality (33%), crime and violence (31%), and healthcare (24%).<\/p>\n<p>South Africa follows these international trends for the most part, with the exception of crime\u00a0and violence, for which it is now the highest ranked country in the world (62%). In addition, education (21%) replaces healthcare\u00a0 (12%) as a chief worry according to the South Africans surveyed.<\/p>\n<p>At the other end of the scale, South Africans are less concerned about access to credit (1%), childhood obesity (1%),\u00a0 climate change (1%), and terrorism (2%) compared to other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Below are the biggest worries in the world right now &#8211;
