Public Protector Thuli Madonsela has found no evidence of improper conduct in a land deal between the City of Cape Town and Naspers, following a complaint by\u00a0ANC Chief Whip Mathole Motshekga, in parliament in March.<\/p>\n
Motshekga\u00a0requested the Public Protector investigate whether the city’s purchase of the piece of land from Naspers Properties for R106 million was above board, as independent property experts had\u00a0reportedly\u00a0valued the land at no more than R50 million.<\/p>\n
The land deal involved the City of Cape Town’s\u00a0purchase of the land for the expansion of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), in which the city is a shareholder.<\/p>\n
