{"id":282221,"date":"2018-11-09T07:43:02","date_gmt":"2018-11-09T05:43:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=282221"},"modified":"2018-11-09T07:43:31","modified_gmt":"2018-11-09T05:43:31","slug":"vodacom-istore-and-others-tease-black-friday-smartphone-deals","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/telecommunications\/282221\/vodacom-istore-and-others-tease-black-friday-smartphone-deals\/","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom, iStore and others tease Black Friday smartphone deals"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodacom has confirmed to BusinessTech that it will be offering Black Friday deals on 23 November.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;To give a hint of what to expect, we will have exclusive online deals available for a limited period with savings of up to 70% in addition to free delivery when signing up or upgrading contracts online,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vodacom.co.za\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vodacom website<\/a> <\/strong>will have awesome\u00a0Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>from 23 November 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom is not the only telecoms company that plans to offer Black Friday deals, with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.telkom.co.za\/today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Telkom<\/a><\/strong>,\u00a0and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/wegotu.mtn.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MTN\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>confirming to MyBroadband that it will also be offering Black Friday specials this year.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.myistore.co.za\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">iStore<\/a> <\/strong>has also said it will be participating in Black Friday 2018, with a range of Apple products and accessories on sale.<\/p>\n<p>General retailers such as Game, Makro and Takealot are also likely to have specials on smartphones for Black Friday &#8211; with phones often cited as one of the most popular shopping items.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Despite the economic backdrop, we predict good growth in Black Friday retail sales, with categories such as\u00a0<strong>panel-TVs<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>smartphones<\/strong>\u00a0likely once again to be the star performers,&#8221; says\u00a0Kali Moahloli, commercial head for market insights at GfK South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What is clear is that Black Friday is now a massive day in the annual South African retail calendar.
