Tenet has\u00a0announced the appointment of Duncan Greaves as chief executive\u00a0officer of the company with effect from 1 January 2013.<\/p>\n
Greaves succeeds\u00a0Duncan Martin, who retires at the end of 2012 after serving as CEO since\u00a0Tenet\u00a0‘s establishment in August 2000.<\/p>\n
Duncan Greaves has worked for Tenet\u00a0\u00a0in senior management roles since\u00a02003, before which he was IT director at the then University of Natal.<\/p>\n
The appointment concludes a search and selection process that began in\u00a0June 2012.<\/p>\n
Martin will remain with Tenet\u00a0until 31 January 2013 to ensure a smooth\u00a0transition.<\/p>\n
As South Africa’s National Research and Education Network, Tenet\u00a0serves\u00a0164 campuses of more than 50 institutions on an extensive national\u00a0network that includes the 10 Gbps SANReN backbone, and gigabit or better\u00a0circuits to the main campuses of most public universities and research\u00a0councils.<\/p>\n
Tenet\u00a0is a fully licenced operator and holds rights of use of\u00a015 Gigabits per second of intercontinental capacity on both the Seacom\u00a0and WACS cables, and operates gateways in London and Amsterdam.<\/p>\n
Tenet collaborates with the Meraka Institute of the CSIR in the planning and\u00a0deployment of the SANReN Network, which it also operates, and is a\u00a0founder member of the UbuntuNet Alliance, the Regional Research and\u00a0Education Network for Eastern and Southern Africa.<\/p>\n
