{"id":28826,"date":"2012-12-20T00:30:24","date_gmt":"2012-12-19T22:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/?p=28826"},"modified":"2012-12-20T00:31:43","modified_gmt":"2012-12-19T22:31:43","slug":"employment-slump-in-telecoms-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/businesstech.co.za\/news\/trending\/28826\/employment-slump-in-telecoms-sector\/","title":{"rendered":"Employment slump in telecoms sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CareerJunction released its November 2012 CareerJunction Index (CJI) recently, revealing a big drop in employment within the telecommunication industry since the middle of the year.<\/p>\n<p>The CJI monitors the online\u00a0labour market in South Africa by examining supply and demand\u00a0trends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A weakening trend in employment is notable for 2012. Comparing\u00a02011 findings to those of 2012, hiring activity was much lower\u00a0this year,&#8221; the job firm said. &#8220;Weakening employment within the telecommunication; mining and motor industries during 2012 is undoubtedly linked to\u00a0these findings.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to CareerJunction, following a healthy trend in employment within the IT industry\u00a0during 2012, November brought a slight decrease in job vacancies.\u00a0&#8220;However, this trend is expected as the year draws to a close. The\u00a0IT industry remains one of the top three most sought after industries\u00a0on CareerJunction,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>Employment within the telecommunication industry however, has continuously\u00a0weakened since June 2012.
