Shanduka executive chairman Cyril Ramaphosa<\/a>\u00a0announced on Wednesday (19 December) that owing to his election to the position of ANC Deputy President at the ANC\u2019s 53rd National Conference in Mangaung\u201a he has initiated a review of his interests in business.<\/p>\n

Ramaphosa is independent non-executive director and chairman of MTN Group and is also chairman of Bidvest Group. He also sits on the board of brewer, SAB Miller and Standard Bank Group.<\/p>\n

Shanduka Group<\/a>, founded by\u00a0Ramaphosa\u00a0recently paid $335 million for a stake in MTN\u2019s Nigerian business.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is necessary to address any potential conflicts of interest\u201a and to ensure that I can adequately perform the responsibilities of this position\u201a\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn consultation with the ANC national officials\u201a I am undertaking a process of engagement with several stakeholders on the implications of my election to this post.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will include a review of existing positions\u201a responsibilities and obligations. It is intended that this process result in an arrangement that removes the possibility of any conflict of interest.<\/p>\n

\u201cI will make further public statements at the appropriate time\u201a\u201d Ramaphosa added in a statement.<\/p>\n
