Uber South Africa has announced that it will be hiking its prices from 7 December 2018.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Uber said that while it always tries to keep prices as low as possible, it ‘needs to be aware of the increased costs for driver-partners’.<\/p>\n

“We\u2019ve chosen to increase fares by 5% in South Africa from 7 December 2018. This comes after implementing an in-depth earnings review to ensure that the Uber app continues to be a reliable economic opportunity for drivers, as well as an affordable option for riders.”<\/p>\n

The new pricing is as follows:<\/p>\n

How will this affect riders?<\/strong><\/p>\n

“For riders, the new fare pricing means that we can invest even more in the technology features that make your Uber experience a seamless one,” Uber said.<\/p>\n

“With the introduction of new safety tools in the Uber app, you\u2019re able to enjoy every ride with more peace of mind to keep you connected and protected. From emergency assistance, rider insurance coverage and trusted contacts \u2013 we\u2019re committed to your safety from pick-up to drop-off.”<\/p>\n
