IT service and solution provider,\u00a0EMC<\/a> Southern Africa has appointed Servaas Venter<\/a> as country manager.<\/p>\n

Venter has fulfilled the role in an acting capacity since August 2012, following the passing of Inana Nkanza<\/a> in July.<\/p>\n

The new company lead joined EMC as a senior account manager in 2000, when he took on responsibility for financial services accounts including Absa<\/a>, Nedbank<\/a> and Standard Bank<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2007 he was promoted to district manager, managing a team of 10 sales staff and addressing the local enterprise market sector.<\/p>\n

Venter was promoted to area manager in July 2010. In this capacity, he was responsible for EMC\u2019s overall sales in South Africa and also held cross-functional responsibility for channel and global services.<\/p>\n

As country manager, Venter is responsible for EMC\u2019s overall performance and strategy in the Southern African region. Marketing, channel, HR and financial operations reporting lines have been added to his existing responsibilities.<\/p>\n

“We will develop our talent pool to not only continuously improve, but also deliver on the company\u2019s expectations. We will grow EMC\u2019s market leadership locally and ensure that EMC acquires new accounts by executing our go-to-market strategy,” Venter said.<\/p>\n

Prior to joining EMC, he managed various accounts in the telco and media sectors for IBM<\/a>. He holds an Electronic diploma from the Vaal University of Technology.<\/p>\n
